Quiet coast, a photo from Southland, South Island

I'm just back from a month on the road in outback areas of Australia again. There are piles of photos to process so I'll finish off my New Zealand series from 2011 before starting on them.
The Catlins area of South island has long stretches of quiet and lonely beaches facing south towards Antarctica. You don't see many (if any) swimmers.
2 photos today, looking in opposite directions along one of those beaches on Curio Bay - this one towards the west and the WS one looking east.

Hello Ian,
Welcome back. The emptiness and "towards Antarctica" indicate very cold water, but the beach looks nice enough in both directions. The scenery could have been Ireland or Scotland, where the water is possibly also not very warm. The panoramic shape suits both photos well.

Hello Ian, two pictures that give us a good impression of the quiet beaches; I guess that you might walk for miles without seeing anyone.
They do look even better in the large version.
South towards Antarctica, that sounds cold.

looks like a wild coast with lower temperatures most of the year and few people wanting to enjoy these waters. excellent views of a unexplored area, ever fabulous to see a beach with not human presence.
