Photographer's Note
This one is the first of a series on the "Los Glaciares National Park" in south Argentina.
The southern Patagonian ice field feeds some glaciers, of which the "Perito Moreno" is possibly the most photographed. These glaciers flow into "Lago Argentino", which is Argentina's largest fresh water natural lake.
One of the ways of seeing the glaciers is by boat, and usually the first one is the Upsala glacier. The morning I started my sailing there was a heavy storm that made unsafe approaching Upsala's face, so all we saw of it were some icebergs floating on the lake.
(Luckily, later the weather improved so we could get very close to other glacier's walls).
I am posting three images (this one and two more as WS), which are basically different views of icebergs and a sister ship making the same route). I like this one more... by a very little... so it is ok if someone tells me that one of the WS photos is better ;-)!
Depending on the light the ice can be totally blue. This is produced by the compression of the ice in the glacier (it takes hundreds of years).
I hope you like them and all critiques are welcome!

Ola Carlos
Oh yes, icebergs, one of the things very high on my personal bucket list to see up close once.
I must say, that I prefer this photo over the two WS versions, although they are very good to. But this one puts the size of the iceberg nicely in context with the small boat and the whole atmosphere of the scenery with the looming sky is just best here.
have a great day

Hola Carlos,
This scenery certainly is beautiful. The stormy sky makes it even more dramatic. I like the WS photos, too, especially the first one. The boat against the giant blue ice is wonderful. It looks so cold! Thanks for sharing these incredible views.

Oooh, ALL the shots are amazing! What an incredible place. I love the stormy skies in the shot, but your workshops are just mind boggling. Crazy beautiful light and exposure, sharp, detailed.... The warm colors of the boat contrast nicely with all the cool surroundings. Composition is just mad nice. Outstanding! Many thanks and kind regards,
Shelly

Hello Carlos,
I like this picture very much with its large expanse of stormy sky. The light has filtered through to touch the mountains beautifully which gives depth to the composition. The icebergs are sharp and colourful. An interesting note and WS - TFS.

The sky is incredible. The ice clear. The boat helps give perspective and overall dimension. I hope to travel here someday. TFS

Hello Carlos - All three shots have merit but this one is fabulous. I love the atmospheric feel that the heavy sky has added to your composition. One gets a real sense of the power of the weather here. The light is really attractive with the glacier bright and contrasty against the darkness and the chink of sunlit land above the boat adding to the impression of the storm blowing in. Beautiful! Best regards Rosemary

wow, superb photography here. Love the composition with those ice plates at left. Nicely placed boat at right... A stunning background mountains visible in a part creating mystery. I am just not sure about the upper black part of it. At first I thought it is a bit extra, then I feel it is adding the weight of your composition. A nice one indeed. I really enjoyed the blue glow coming from the glaciers. Tfs.

Hi Carlos
Argentina is certainly a country thats high up on my to-see-list :)
normally the horizon line sits a little higher in the frame, not so low as in yours...but it works well as it highlights the storm clouds and the atmosphere.
love the addition of the boat too, as it gives size scale to the icebergs.
its very easy to enjoy this photo, well done.
cheers

Bondias Carlos,
Yes, it is one of the best way to see it by boat and also a great experience to walk on glacier, which I had the opportunity to do both in Perito Moreno and Viedma. While the weather is not ideal but you capture the most dramatic mood that I have ever seen of this glacier. I love it, the contrast between the darkening sky and the glow of the blue ice drop from the glacier in the water. The boat give good sense of scale but without it would have been more of a pristine nature. Excellent shot. One of my Fav.

Hola Carlos !!

Hi Carlo, Fantastic shots fro m the trip to glaciers. You caught an amazing light here. I like specially this well lit place behind the catamaran. The blue ice is marvelous, very impressive view.
I know the place, i also made this trip to Upsala and other glaciers on Lago Argentina. It was an unforgettable experience.
I am looking forward to more photos from that place.
