Fishing the Moon, a photo from Parana, South

Photographer's Note

Last weekend the full moon was a nice chance to make my first night shots with the Rebel, so I went to the rocks by the "Praia Mansa" to capture it. I had my 30-years-old-tripod with me for the first time since I am posting to TE, but, beside it is not really perfectly working, it was terrible to find good places to put it on the rocks. Well, the rocks are not regular even for walk and we have to take care, so it is not good as necessary to the tripod legs!
I think the result is not too bad and I know that could be better if I use a remote shutter and try a lower ISO. Next time!

Sou "fotógrafo" iniciante, amador, mas se não chegar lá, quero pelo menos melhorar, aprendendo um pouco com vocês, "estrelados" !

Gosto desta tua imagem nocturna. Acho que a lua a iluminar as nuvens à volta dela e a projectar o reflexo até oa pescador ficou mesmo muito bem. Só tenho pena é que o pescdor não esteja mais visível. Talvez o ISO mais baixo e a exposição mais longa tivessem dado melhor resultado. De qualquer maneira, gosto muito.

Its a great shot. I klike the wonderful combination of the natural light as well as the arificial urban lights. Inclusion of the fisherman at the foreground gives a nice perspective and a good feeling.

Excellent night shot. I am using the same camera and lens but yet to try out with the tripod. Perhaps I am too lazy to carry a tripod along but your picture sure encourages me to try it out sometime.

Excellent night shot, the moon with the lights of the buildings produces a reflection on the water that is very good, good lighting and amazing POV. The fisherman give your shot a great human touch.

Maravilhosa essa foto Zeca! Os reflexos na água e a lua cheia fizeram uma composição muito boa. Sugiro um aumento da exposição e fechar mais o diafragma, deixaria a lua mais redonda.

That's a good timing, the moon appearing between the clouds complements well the city skyline, the fisherman gets a bit lost in the darkness as it appears of my screen but this foreground provides depth.

Parabéns, está excelente. Muito bonita e impressionante, não só pela luz e definição, mas tb. pela compo - o pescador em 1º plano dá-lhe vida e ambiente, além de equilibrar graficamente, e acho que está com a quantidade de luz certa, suficiente para se ver que está lá e perceber-se o que está a fazer mas insuficiente para distrair do resto.

Hello Jose.
This shot is not bad at all. Given that your tripod was not working very well, you have managed the shot great. The refelctions of moonlight off the clouds really adds punch to this shot...very dynamic. Only recommendation I would have is, if you had taken this during the blue hour (probably sacrificing the moon) you have more colors showing from the lights...As is there are beautiful glows all around. Well done.

Hello Zeca,

What a superb night shot! The tripod was put to good use, in producing this lovely time exposure. The composition is first rate. Sometimes when I use a very slow exposure, I put the camera on self-timer, so that I don't shake the camera.

The bright against the dark and the reflection are wonderful but it is that haunting fisherman that makes this shot ..

Let's say I would be proud of this shot. I love the way you've framed the fisherman. The moon as it shines, & the clouds with the silver lining, the reflections alongwith the reflections of the artificial lights, all come of spectacularly in this picture. Excellent!

Yes it's a good shot really. But next time use time exposure like 20 or 30 s, you will see water totally different like silk.
