Photographer's Note

This is an old house that is about 50 kilometers from my city. To find it you have to take a path that does not go through the main paved roads, to get here it is almost 20 kilometers from the nearest asphalt road.

This here is the Stoltenberg family home, built in the 1920s where a business was located. To this day the family still takes care of and maintains the house as original.

On the website of the company that owns the house, it tells a little about the history of the place:

Coming from the city of kiel in Germany, on July 15, 1880, August Erich Stoltenberg left his home country with his family aboard the steamer Zeelandia, which departed Amsterdam, Holland.

The Stoltenberg family at that time were: the couple August Erich Stoltenberg and Maria Margareth Rhöl Stoltenberg and their four children Anna Helene, Hans Erich, Karl and Hertha. It is noteworthy that August served in the German Navy.

On August 31, 1919, August and his son Hans Erich, then 14 years old, arrived in Vidal Ramos, in the place now called Praça Stoltenberg. Augusto arrived in Vidal Ramos in search of more fertile lands than those purchased at the Boiteuxburgo Colonization Nucleus.

The following year, the Stoltenberg brothers opened a modest business. “They started with a small, leafy ranch, which was later called Stoltenberg’s Caethé blaetter ranch.

With the construction of the house, the family started a series of ventures, opening a store, butcher shop and a sawmill. They bought the produce of the settlers and sold them the basic necessities.

The house's construction was styled by the owners and engineer Hans Prütter, a surveyor who lived with them while working for the Constâncio Krummel Colonization Company.

Masons Hugo Kochanscki and Josef Wessel and carpenters Heinrich Böing and Wendelino Böing participated in the construction of the house. This house still exists today.
