Photographer's Note
"You hear it before you see it. You feel it before you hear it, through the soles of your feet, in the chambers of your soul—a low rumble, the very ground thrumming beneath you. Step to the edge. A gust of wet wind and the earth falls away in this great leap into the abyss." -Jeff Rennicke from National Geographic
Runoff from the heaviest rains in 25 years funnel over the cliffs of Iguazu Falls, one of the greatest natural wonders on the planet. This is the first image of a new series from South America. I spent the last 2 months traversing the wilderness continent, from the windswept dunes of northern Brazil to the crystalline icebergs of Argentine Patagonia. I came face to face with a puma in the middle of the night below Fitzroy, trekked 50 miles barefoot across a spectacular wilderness of sand dunes, and was lucky enough to get on the first train back to Machu Picchu after the disastrous floods of the past winter. I've got lots of stories and images and share, and I hope you enjoy the ride.
Thanks in advance for any commentary.

Hi Michael!
Curious to me that no one has yet commented on this wonderful photo! I think this is a very successful job at a slightly "time delayed" photo. The 1/3 of a second seems to have produced wonderful results, still leaving plenty of clarity and detail in what must be a huge amount of water and mist to try to capture. As with all of your gallery, fine work! Kind regards,
Steve

Waouhhh!
Hi Michael
What a powerfull picture! We can see the water flows due to the low speed you choiced.
Very good tight framing.
Kind regards

Hello Mickael,
Looking to your note, I am now impatient to see the following pictures. Moreover you started here by a place I would like to visit one day.
Good rendering of the misty and dreamlike ambiance.
Yves.

Hey Michael!! Good to have you back again... The photo is surreal. Only exist in the movie or remind me of Avatar movie...
You got one as your main waterfalls and lots at the background.. Great result on the slight delay of the shutter speed.
We talked on thorntree before :-)

Hi Michael,
I wonder ,how 1/3 seconds made this blurry effect on water falls ? Looks like longer exposure than 1/3 sec.
Result is very good colors and atmosphere on view.
