Red-Cowled Cardinal, a photo from Bahia, Northeast

Photographer's Note

The red-cowled cardinal (Paroaria dominicana), originally restricted to the Brazilian Northeast, has been spreading for decades through the Southeastern region, apparently as a result of frequent cage escapes. The young cardinal still does not present the feathers of the head with such red tones, as can be seen in the workshop.

What a fantastic bird you found this time, standing so neatly showing us its profile. While most of its grey and white body is quite normal, Its red head is truly amazing. As before you managed a perfect environment and a very good depth of field. It's just beautiful.

This Red-Cowled Cardinal looks around confidently and lives up to its name.
In the Netherlands we also have a pair of birds that have spread in the wild after escaping from their cages.
Beautiful presentation with beautiful natural colours.

não temos esse aqui. muito boa a pose e a qualidade da imagem com ótima nitidez e luz. quase podemos tocar no bicho. linda foto.
agora há pouco estava testando a câmera nova e seu zoom, mesmo com chuva tirei umas fotos da janela e de uma rola enorme chamada aqui de pomba-do-ar. com as penas molhadas ela ficou meio punk. haha.

I know how hard it can be to take such sharp and well composed photographs of birds! Somehow, just as you have them focussed in shot, they move to another branch, or turn their head!
This is a pin-sharp photograph of the bird, (plumage and all) and its perch, all set against a lovely bokeh.

they are all at a very high level of quality. the piece of wood its standing on is such a great secondary subject too, as is the bg blurring of the trees. just a great shot!

In your gallery I see beautiful collection of close-up photos with birds. This cardinal is little different what I see on my back yard. Our cardinals are all red.
Perfectly captured with hazy BG and superb sharpness on the bird and tree.
