Photographer's Note

I took this photo some 20 kilometers south of the Muro Alto beach (you can see the post here).

This is a beach with open waters and its waves make it a favorite for surfers (it even hosts Brazil’s date of the world surfing championship.

On one side of the beach, the Maracaipe river flows into the sea, and lots of mangroves are home to birds and fish, crabs, and seahorses. (In fact, these waters are a breeding place for seahorses).

One of the things I liked of this place is the different kinds of people (crab fishermen, bird watchers after humming birds, surfers, artisans, tourists wanting to have a look at everything) that you can find, and that it holds a very natural atmosphere in a region where more and more resorts and beach hotels are opening every year.

And this takes me to the selection of the photo I am posting. I selected this one (which was taken on the river side of the beach) because somehow it shows the contrast between a house with the fisher’s nets and, behind, the sail of someone kite-surfing on the sea.

As bonus shots, in the WS I am posting a view of the river with the mangroves (tide was at it lowest) and a kite-surfer.

Hope you like them!
