Bovespa –A bolsa do Brasil

While strolling thru downtown Sao Paulo, we passed the stock market ( Bovespa – A Bolsa do Brazil ) which was open to the general public due to a PR campaign about the workings of this institution aimed at the expansion of the stock trade. Of course we three didn’t hesitate to go in and see this normally invisible part of economic powerhouse Sao Paulo in action. After passing 5 security officers, a metal detector and a frisking we were able to enter the main room where amongst other things a demonstrating of a stock transaction was going on, involving actual stock traders.

A very friendly Bovespa official showed us around, allowed us to take pictures and told that the local company stock trade is actually not very popular in Brazil.

This shot was taken during this demonstration. The walking person on the right played the part of a customer who placed an order by telephone which was processed by the stock traders. The person in the middle was the host who talked the public through the transaction.

PCS2 tech: cropped, altered the contrast, curves and levels for the whole pic and some elements separately, USM-ed , added a frame and saved for the web.
