Caminho das Sete Cruzes, a photo from Santiago, Central Valley

Photographer's Note

As quatro cruzes da foto fazem parte do chamado “Caminho das sete Cruzes”, no Cerro San Cristóbal. Infelizmente, não achei nenhuma grande informação sobre elas.

Considerado o pulmão verde de Santiago, o Cerro San Cristóbal é, na verdade, parte de um conjunto de montanhas que juntas formam o Parque Metropolitano de Santiago, o maior parque urbano do Chile e da América Latina, e o quarto maior do mundo.

O Cerro possui 860 metros e oferece uma visão ampla e privilegiada da cidade de Santiago, sendo possível ver até uma enorme nuvem de poluição sobre a cidade, o smog (um nevoeiro contaminado por fumaça). O parque também oferece vários atrativos, desde mirantes e jardins, até eventos esportivos como aulas de ginástica e atividades culturais.

This mountain road probably offers a wonderful view above Santiago, with the smog as any big city suffers from.
Crosses mounted, as an addition to the impressive scenery from this high point.

Hello Luis Gustavo,

Are these crosses something new? I was on the Cerro San Cristobal in Santiago but I do not remember it. Interesting place. Splendid view of the snow covered peaks in the background. Excellent composition.

já vi várias fotos deste monte, mas nunca dessas cruzes. a foto ficou muito bonita realçando as figuras desenhadas nas cruzes, em especial esta do primeiro plano. vemos ainda os andes nevados, o smog e a cidade.
já visitei o sul e o norte do chile, mas nunca o centro, ainda me falta essa parte.

Hello Luis,
You composed this photo cleverly. The nearest crucifix is well placed and the narrow road cuts through the photo nicely on a slight curve, where two more crosses contribute to a fine depth. The snow covered mountains create a superb view in the background. I would have liked to see some more light in the shady area to show more details of the persons, but it's not a big thing.

Hello Luis,
A well constructed composition using the receding crosses to draw the viewer in. I like the light and shadow contrasts that engender a particular mood very appropriate to the subject.

Bonita la perspectiva de este camino-mirador, que pienso es a la vez un original "Via Crucis", con el encanto añadido de unas esplendidas vistas sobre la ciudad y las montañas, como podemos apreciar entre los arboles.

I was in Santiago for several days, I don't remember seeing this. I wish I did. hard to photograph with the lighting situation, but it turned out very well indeed. attractive combinations of light and shadow and the subject material is great too. well executed. cheers

Hola Luis,

This is a fine composition.
The main cross is well positioned, beautifully lit and decorated, whilst the other crosses lead on a perfect line, increasingly silhouetted, into the b/g.
Lovely lighting contrasts between the shadowy f/g and the sunlit mountains.

Well, I don't remember exactly if I've been there. I have a faint memory of it but for sure no pictures.
I like your composition with the crosses spread over the photo and at the same time a great view of the snowcapped peaks of the Andes.
