Photographer's Note
Villarica volcano at sunset, taken from Pucon. 300mm. focal length (digital). Villarica (2847M. alt) is one of the most active volcanoes in Chile, there is visible smoke rising most of the time, but the wind was too strong to see it that day. I will upload a wider version to workshop where the smoke is somewhat more visible.

Nice and simple composition with warm and cold colors combined. I like the soft graduation between light and shadows in contrast to the hard graduation between slope and sky.
Simple yet effective.
Nice work,

Hello Tan,
Nice capture of this sleeping fire. Before reading your notes I felt so cool looking at this wonderful image particularly the reflecting sun rays and the blue in the shadow region. After knowing it as an active volcano it gives a different feeling.
Nice color and compo.

Hello Tan,
A miraculous sight here, particularly good because I know these huge stratovolcnoes seem to generate their own weather patterns around them because of updrafts and temperature inversions resulting in the peak being clad in fog. This scene however provides a perfect cloud-free shot of this active giant. The pinkish orange hue on the conical peak reminds me of my flying over Mt. Taranaki in New Zealand. The image is very clear, and there are very few jpeg compression artifacts to spoil the definition. Is that smudge near the top of the peak a shadow on the mountain or is it a impurity on the lens? Either way, it does not distract much at all. I would love to climb it! Well done.

Hi Tan,
Nice composition and contrast between volcano and perfect blue sky. The late evening sunlight gives a special texture to the photo. Well seen & captured.
Good memories from this photo: I climbed the volcano in 1987. We had no special shoes or clothing. It was during summer holidays.
Few meters before the summit, a cloud covered everything, and we had to rush down. We couldn't see our own nose. Good fun though.

Wow, this is a simply gorgeous shot! The last light on the snow is so beautiful and delicate, being almost pink, that this is irresistable. The contrast of colour is wonderful, and I like the simple shape of the mountain, very clean and unbroken. I really like this!

Wow! I like the rose tinted snow, on this impressive, volcanic peak. Superb zoom shot, with excellent flattened perspective, from the magnification, & impeccable sharpness. Tfs!

Hi Tan,
I guess it's the very clean air up there which makes this peak appear to be so close. I guess it wasn't anyway. Beautiful sunset light on that cone of powder snow. Clean and simple composition.

Hi Tan,
this view of the snowed mountain contrasting with the dark blue sky is beautiful, I like this tight crop however I think you lost some sharpness quality overall and one advice: clean your lens/sensor or work on the spots on the sky. Good work!

Carlos

Hi Tan,
It's good to have you back. I find that this one goes a bit away from the style of most of your gallery. This has nothing to do with being less attractive or less achieved in any detail - as usual, everything is amazingly perfect. I note this only because it's very usual that your compos look "more elaborate", they usually include many elements all arranged in a so tidy way that it is very rare to find, and this one is rather simple, which probably is what makes it so beautiful. The light is amazing and the framing explores very nicely the perfect cone shape of the volcano covered with that snow that looks like a silk sheet.
I like it very much.
Regards, José.

Hi Tan,
gorgeous light! Whata simple and beautiful composition.
Last April I made it to 100m from the peak but we had to turn back as the weather turned. It wasn't anything like this!

Hi Tan.
I like the superb and extremely pure geometry of this volcanic cone covered by snow. The texture of the snow is superb and produces fantastic reflexion of the red-orange light of the last sunbeams.
Always a pleasure to come to your gallery!
Thanks for sharing.

Hello,
Volcanoes assault all of the senses-sight, touch, smell and hearing. Your photo serves "sight" senses with elegant symmetry and perfect colours.
*Şu anda bilgisayarımın masaüstünde(arka planında) Osorno volkanı yer alıyor. Sanırım bu fotoğraftan sonra değişecek.

Hi Tan!
I love volcanoes and this one - Villarrica - in Pucon is one of my favorite ones!
I have a similar picture, but when I took it, back in 2005, I still had only my Sony-CiberShot, so, it's not as clear as yours, which I consider just wonderful!

Hi Tan,
I love the perfect shape of this volcano: exponential curves on the side and the flat top with a little smoke coming. The composition which shows more of one side of the slope than the other feels very balanced. The best part of the shot are the soft shades.
Cheers,
Irena
