Photographer's Note
Osorno volcano at sunset.
I've been uploading tons of photos on flickr lately, so this, and many more photos not uploaded on TE are ready for view on that site. I use small format for copyright protection, and the galleries are still incomplete and disorganized. Only the September-October 2006 trip to Europe is fully complete. I will still participate on TE sporadically.
From Wiki:
Volcán Osorno is a 2,652 m (8,701 feet) tall conical stratovolcano lying between the provinces of Osorno and Llanquihue, in Los Lagos Region of Chile. It stands on the southeastern shore of Lake Llanquihue, and also towers over Todos los Santos Lake. Osorno is known worldwide as a symbol of the local landscape, and is noted for its similar appearance to Mount Fuji.

Hi Tan!
My wonderful OSORNO.When I was for one week in los lagos region I`ve seen this wonderful volcano everyday, but never in such a fantastic light.
Wonderful red tones and fine details at the untouched snow.A great shot!!!

Beautiful alpenglow color on the cone. Looks quite imposing the way you composed the picture. Checked out your flickr site. Images look oversharpened, perhaps because you have resized them small without altering the sharpening settings. I didn't like the lay-out of flickr and decided to have my stuff on zenfolio.com. The light and the colours are magnificent and give a spectacular glow to the volcano. Excellent work.

Ce volcan a l'air bien paisible et seule cette belle lumière du soir semble le réchauffer...mais méfions nous du volcan qui dort!

Some volcanos in Chile are quite upset, making explosion here and there... I love the light of this photo, a warm light for a quite moment, a quite momento of a sleepy monster... Let´s wish it keeps like this. Take care Tan.

Hi Tan,
Conical shape looks perfect. Clear, thin mountain air gives special colour on sunset. Those shadows are small, but very good details on fairly smooth snow surface.

Quite different from your usual style, Tan, more graphic and more simple. The abstract shape is arresting and the color is wonderful.regards kevin

Boy, everyone seems to be moving to flickr, or some other site. Maybe I should check it out as well. Anyway, this is a lovely alpenglow photo. I have similar one of Mt. Fuji at sunrise (not uploaded). I hope sporadically participating on TE means you will still be uploading photos at least once a week. Please don't abandon us!
Take care,
Ryan

Hello Tan,
A symmetric cone for a volcano, photographed in the afterglow of a sunset it appears. There is a little puffing in the top right, and as you note, it is evocative of Mt. Fuji.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Tan
Your flickr folio is a revelation...so man photographs I've never seen from you here, especially the ones from India. But this is one super shot...do we see some smoke coming out from the rim? The snow covered volcano, in sunset colours looks like a giant mountain of fire. Magnificent as always!
Best Regards
Angshu

I ll give you points just for the light quality! ;-) Which is amazing.
But I would have cropped this as a left square.

Hey Tan,
I hope that we don't lose you on this site, as I use your photos to help find exotic locations worldwide :P
I have been participating intermittently as well, but hopefully will have more time soon. As for the photo, it is decent, I really like the colour that the sun has given the peak, but I find the photo a bit boring. I also like the bit of snow blowing off the top of the peak.
Regards,
David

Last time I saw a vulcano in activity I was 6 years old; it was Stromboli.
Very nyicle warm lights on the snow.
Well done.

Hello Tan!
Beautiful photo! I saw something like this in Santiago but, unfortunately, at that time I just had my little Sony with a 3x zoom and couldn´t capture it. So this picture brings me nice memories about that trip and, about that moment. TFS!
Regards,
Zeca
