Photographer's Note
A solitary guanaco against the granite Torres del Paine peaks, in a (relatively) wind sheltered location. 120mm. focal length, the animal kept moving away. It was so windy, impossible to use a tripod. Guanacos were quite common and easy to see, during my last visit there in May 2003, I saw very few. This time they were numerous, but the wind was ferocious.

Spectacular view just as usual, and of course with the guanaco making the shot, despite the impressive granite spires in the background. The image is a tiny bit soft, which is not surprising at f/4.5. Gorgeous landscape, wish I was there!

Hi Tan
What a lovely character to include in this landscape! This chap must be used to the wild weather and steep slopes, and seems to be enjoying the spectacular view. The lighting brings a 3D effect to these magnificent mountains. Excellent capture.

It looks like it was just you and the guanaco up there that day, Tan. You certainly get to some isolated places. The guanaco is perfectly positioned in this shot - fabulous composition all round. Your 1/640th shutter speed seems to have overcome any effects of the wind.

Hi, Tan. Impressive rock faces. You'v'e created a good depth in the picture with the guanaco in the foreground and the dark ridge between the animal and the Torres del Paine, which stand well out against the sky.

Hi Tan,
What a fabulous scenery! It seems that you were pretty lucky with the weather as I've heard that it's quite common to go there and see nothing because of the clouds and rains. I love this composition with the slope forming a diagonal line and the way the long focal has squeezed the perspective. The guanaco makes a lovely and colorful foreground subject.
Cheers.

Hi Tan,
A very well balanced image with strong impact from the diagonal lines that flow through the image from upper left to lower right. And placement of the guanaco is perfect on the hillside. Great colors and sharp details. Fine shot and TFS. Gerald

Hi Tan,
Majestic peaks and majestic animal. Excellent framing showing the steep slopes and how close to snow level we are. It would be even better if the head of guanaco was against a snow field.

Hi captain,
LOL that is the ultimate cliche picture everybody would want to get, did you use that old trick of urinating on the stone next to it to have it fixed ? ;-))
Of course this state of the art placement adds a lot of value to your image that would be nice even without the guanaco.
Have a nice day JY

Very well framed, Tan, besides the obvious luck of representatively capturing one of the "locals" against its stunning habitat, the framing with the main diagonal of the ridge dividing the frame in two parts works very well.
