Photographer's Note

Another very old picture of the poor quality but I want to show it anyway, even without smileys.

What was my most memorable journey, I was often asked. I think it was the long journey to Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador in 1999. Seeing Peru and especially Macchu Picchu was my long dream. After some excursions with the travel agencies, I decided to organize the trip by myself and go with a few friends. But for a long tiime I couldn't find the people wanting to go with me. Finally, quite desperate, I put the advertisement in the newspaper. And it worked! I met two women that wanted to go with me and my friend. They decided just in a few minutes. Probably it was a bit risky to go with somebody unknown, both for us and for them. But we didn't think about it. It was a long five weeks trip. When we landed in Lima, I was scared. How would it be? What about my Spanish? And first of all, how will we feel in high altitudes. I was glad that the newly met woman was a doctor.

Fro Lima we went to Paracas and Ballestas Islands know as the poor man's Galapagos. In this (poor) picture it s the view of the cave in so-called Cathedral - the impressive rock formation on the coast. Sadly , it doesn't exist anymore. Some years later, in 2007 it was destroyed by the earthquake. You can see in Workshop the collage with the cathedral in my photo and the photo taken after the earthquake [from].
