Photographer's Note
This is the first lookout stop if you're driving from Cusco to the Sacred Valley of the Inca. On the side of the road were some merchants as well as a couple of ladies and their llamas eager to have tourists stop to take a photo with them, the llamas, and the scenic view--for a small price.
The small girls in the photo saw me taking the photo of the valley and decided to add themselves to it; I just laughed it off and gave them a few soles for their ingenuity.
The river in view is the Urubamba which also flows next to Machu Picchu, therefore, in reality, this is a photo of the Urubamba Valley.
The Urubamba Valley has always been the main supplier of food and water for the city of Cusco and other surrounding areas.
