Photographer's Note
This shot was taken while on my honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico. I'm not sure exactly what these 'dunes' are in the ocean, but people liked to walk out to them and sunbath on top. You had to be very careful, as just behind these dunes there are dangerous rip tides that could sweep you out, or under the water.
The resort was Grand Bahai Principe...awsome and well recommended to anyone!

Beautiful place. The trasparency of the sea water was very well reflected, which is not always easy. Good job, congratulations!

Hi Craig:
This is probably my favorite beach I've ever been to. The Gran Bahia Principe has a heck of a location. These things are actually man-made to keep the beaches from eroding, or so I'm told. As I'm sure you saw, it also makes the water a bit calmer behind them.
A different take on this beautiful beach. Colors are fantastic. You got some great weather as well.

Hi, Craig
Cancun is in Quintana Roo, not in the state of Mexico.

Hello Craig,
Strange "dunes" look as men-made jetty to counter and regulate strong undercurrents and protect the beach, which is probably the main source of income for this region.
Its special "cubic" shape can't be of a natural formation.
Interesting to learn about from TE.
Have a nice weekend,
Ike
