1989 again., a photo from Bagmati, Central

Photographer's Note

After seeing some old photos from other TE members I brought some of my old slides to a photo lab and got the scanned.
This picture of the young mother and her daughter is probably from Durbar square in central Kathmandu. Unfortunately i missed a small part of the girl's foot in this picture, but you know how it can be sometimes :)

Hi Boa,

This is a wonderful shot from memory lane. The colours and DOF is spot on - I also really like the light illuminating the background

It is now 21 years on since you took this shot - I wonder how this little girl is now....

Very well composed dailylife shot.
It's a good idea to upload old photos specially about countries like Nepal that's changing very fast. Good to know how everything was 20 years ago.

Hej Boa,
The mother and her child are very nicely captured with good sharpness and a pleasant light. I like the activity shown among the blurred people in the background. The colours are very well kept, showing no sign of deterioration. There is a fair amount of noise, which is almost impossible to avoid in scanned pictures. It is not disturbing in this case, but it becomes a problem if the photo shows a lot of sky.

Hej Boa,
The lab obviously did a good job with the scan, but the original photo was indeed very good too. The mother and child are very well positioned in your composition and the colours are great. The missing part of the foot and the top of the head are merely unimportant details.

Excellent capture. I really like how the mother and child are perfectly sharp against a blurred background. I guess that if you had taken the photo today both the child's foot and the mother's head would have been within the frame. Nevertheless, it a wonderful photo anyway. TFS och ha en bra kväll!

funny to think that this little girl is now in her very early 20's. I'm sure the mother would love to have this photo.
great use of apperature..just as it was intended!
the pig-tails are cute i must admitt.
as for Vancouver - yeah..its very mild here. our winters are wet and rainy, we often don't even GET snow AT ALL! instead we get rained on heavily in our winter and fall seasons.
if you come in September, it will be very warm, hot even. October it starts to cool down, November - the rain starts heavily. For autumn...late october and early November are best. Remember, vancouver is not the steriotypical canadian city. For example, it was sunny today, i was out in a T-shirt & jeans, and its Nov 2!
