Solitude, a photo from Blekinge, Gotaland

Photographer's Note

This young tree found itself flooded due to high sea levels after a hurricane last week, which killed 11 and fell as many trees as all storms did together during the 20th century.

Still so many days after the hurricane the water has not yet retreated through the narrow Danish sounds.

I have just cropped the picture.

Hi Magnus,
I like this photo very much. The ripple is so fine though a little bit dim. Beautiful. Also you can capture even the calmness & brightness at the same time.

* PS: You live in a particuliarly beautiful country. We had a very short visit to Karlskrona last June, we were staying on campgrounds in Orrefors & Nybro, visiting all the glasfactories. And we loved the landscapes between south coast and the places we stayed...

This is a lovely photo, Magnus.

The lighting and colours are wonderful and as so many others have already pointed out, the serene feeling, the calmness after the storm, are captured magnificently and I think they are further enhanced by your close composition.

Probably nothing else to add that hasn't been said but this is a great shot. Like someone mentioned, it is "zen-like." The lighting and water reflections are beautiful. I like the way the angles of the two reeds emerging from the water go in contrasting directions.

I really love the simplicity and the purity of this picture. Togheter with the calmness, it gives the impression that the Nature itself is looking for a small break, thinking about that events that damaged her and trying to find a way to recover from it !

Une image de désolation, évoquant le calme total après la tempête comme si rien ne s'était jamais produit.
Nous espérons que ce petit arbre tiendra le coup et continuera à vivre au retrait des eaux.

solitutude indeed...the rock, the sticks, the dead shrub and the water...together but all by themselves. the simple story and subjects conveys a lot of emotion and that the note substantiates.
