Photographer's Note
In this picture I have tried to use the hands behind to work effectively with the glasses. The Tops of the glasses run along a thirds line, the cucumber slices cross on the power points.I have only sharpened and increased the saturation I have done this on photofiltre I have also cropped it to.Any constructive criticism is welcome.

Hello Miles,
First of all welcome to TrekEarth.
I am sure you will get a lot of pleasure out of posting photographs, writing critiques and receiving help and advice from other members. You will also find that it can become very addictive.
From your note you are obviously well aware of the importance of the rule of thirds in composition, a “powerpoint” being the position in the image where horizontal and vertical lines of thirds cross.
Interestingly the sides of some the closest glasses follow vertical thirds lines too.
Although at first sight one might complain that the tumblers hold no contents for the thirsty drinker, their emptiness allows a progression of distorted images of the glasses behind to lead the eye into the depths of the image.
A good composition: the coloured straws in the three nearest glasses lie almost parallel to each other and form a neat geometric contrast to the circles of fresh cucumber at the rims.
The image is clear and sharp.
I look forward to seeing more of your photographs.
Kind regards,
Graffer.

Hello Miles,
Firstly, Welcome to TrekEarth! I hope that you will find this (and the other Trek sites, should you choose to join them too) as enjoyable and instructive as I have. But, be warned - this can be very, very addictive! But, in my opinion, a lot safer than many addictions - just make sure that it doesn't run away with too much of your valuable time.
But to your picture. You have actually made yourself the very comments which I should have regarding composition, so you are clearly aware of "thirds" and all that.
But, for a first posting, this picture is, to my mind, very advanced. We are seeing here a "glasses' eye view" of people relaxing and mingling and, no doubt, talking amongst themselves. And those people are all totally unaware of our presence - or so it seems. We (the glasses) are standing here all ready and awaiting the pleasure of the partygoers.
A great shot, Miles!
Best Wishes,
John.
