Photographer's Note

Bounded by the blue waters of Celebes Sea on the south, the hills and mountains on the north, the Municipality of Maasim on the east and the Municipality of Maitum on the west lies KIAMBA, an idyllic town in Sarangani.

Kiamba has rich natural resources. Its waters teem with fresh fishes that are shipped to the cities of General Santos, Davao, Butuan and Manila for local consumption and exported to Japan. Salted and dried fish are transported to adjacent cities, provinces and municipalities in large volumes. The bangus fry industry has provided Kiamba a good opportunity for livelihood.

The mountain yields the finest lumber like Lauan, Apitong, Sayubong, Manga-chapoy, Ipil, Yakal, Mahogany, G-milena and Bagras. Underneath the forest-laden mountains are untapped deposits such as gold, silver, and copper.

The soil is fertile, and there are several rivers and abundant rainfall that make for a good source for adequate irrigation. These have made Kiamba agriculturally productive. Rice, corn, banana, coconut, abaca, and fruits like rambutan, lanzones, durian and vegetables are the main crops of Kiamba. Livestock production is also an added source of livelihood.
