Hi Sorhab. i can understand why you get bored looking only at b&w stuff. It tend to get depressing, at least to me.. I liked Morita's Idea, but not the result.. sorry.
This one on the other hand is very interesting, well contructed, and more important well executed. But as you said in one mail , this could be very good as part of a story .
despite all of this, i like this image.

Americans seldom have the opportunity to view a scene like this, where the real, live animal that will soon be served on their table is paraded before them on the way to slaughter. Of course, everything about India remains close to human experience, from birth to death, so a scene such as this makes complete sense in your world. This is one of the reasons, I believe, that people in the west are so fascinated by images from India. There is a realness and vitality to this world that is lacking in our much more sanitized, distracted world.
This is a fine capture Sohrab, with fine control over depth of field, the focal point appearing to be the man's hand clutching the rope holding his two goats. These animals represent wealth, the source of this man's livelihood. The line of animals extends toward the blurry lines of buildings on this urban street. Everything happens on these streets! Excellent contribution.

I also like this image, especially because even without seeing the animals from the front, the image shows that they probably are sensing a fear of what's happaning, even though they don't have the ability to comprehend death or life concepts. Composition is as usual top notch with nice depth leading eyes down the street.

Hi Sohrab, a very sad title and photograph too. The line of goats walking to their dead is something really touching.
Here, we can see the same scene but with the cows trapped in a truck. When I came across with the trucks (usually in the inner routes of the country), I always looked at the cattle faces and seemed to be sad and scared..
And in your shot, the man in the left seems to be pushing the goat so to make it walk.
I like the crop you chose, but one thing that is a bit distracting for my eye is that man in between the ones that are carrying the goats, looking at you.
The "falling" buildings in the background add to the sad and depress feeling, IMO.
take care,
Marisa

Soharab,
terrific perspective. I like your choice of using their back and the out-of-focus frontal horizon rather than their eyes and the receding line behind...leaves more to thought than possible by simple dramatization.

What a strange world we actually live in Sohrab... We kill life, and we eat it... I think the technical beauty cannot go without the confrontation here... A good work...
Technically, as a painter... I see a lott of energie in the arm and sholder of the person here in the front, the robe and the hand speak...

P.S.: You will not believe what happened to me today! I had a role of Fomapan Classic (B/W) develloped, and it came out absolutely Blanc!! Empty... Incredible...

i love everything about this shot, compo, dof, sharpness... one major flaw for me though is that without your notes i couldn't tell what animals they were :-( i really wish one of the goats would be more recognizable.

Sohrab, this one is interesting. Good story in picture. Well told. There is a certain rawness in the picture, I think having taken the picture from behind lends that look. If we were to see the heads of the goats, maybe there might be an element of innocence in it and now rawness.. Good take.

Sohrab, Thanks very much!!!! I am honoured to be mentioned on your beautiful picture! MMMM.... bored. That is a problem. I think that your pictures are so perfect that maybe you do get bored since you do not have any thing to improve on! I love the angle and the theme of this picture. Your scanning techniques are wonderful. I thought that my images were not good because of the scanner (Thinking that everyone else uses a digital camera) But, seeing your prints, I guess that is not the issue. Ha ha- Anyway, cheer up! Intresting pov. Like the way the goats makes the diagonal line almost deviding the photos in two halfs. I finde the reaction from most peole to a scene like this kind of intresting. I guess it's an reflection of the modern society where most people never comes in contact with the animals they eat.

another great, thrilling picture. This leading-in compo works fantastically here.
