Montmorillon is a French commune located in the département of Vienne (région Poitou-Charentes). Its inhabitants, of which there were 6387 at the 2010 census, are called Montmorillonnais.

It is situated on the river Gartempe 50 kilometres (30 miles) south-east of Poitiers and 90 kilometres (55 miles) to the north-west of Limoges.

Good Morning Stephen,

The bridge, with its attendant railings and flower baskets, makes a most effective lead to the charming town, which shows its details like a series of steps! The terra cotta roofs help to carry the movement through the shot, whilst the two towers link nicely across the frame.

The road/bridge with green railings along with the raised footpath occupies the central position of the lower half of the scene. This gives excellent balance to the photograph.
The cluster of buildings many of which have half-timber walls mesh smoothly with the tall brick building which has a medieval construction.... The light brown colour of the buildings are more prominent because of the clear blue sky that forms a beautiful background.
The 2nd bell tower visible on the left, over the green hillock is an excellent addition.

Quel beau village français.Comme toujours, les fleurs sont à l'honneur et c'est très bien ainsi. Le point de vue nous fait passer sur le pont et nous fait admirer cette belle église qui semble protéger les maisons autour.

composizione perfetta e colori impeccabili per una bella rappresenntazione di questo piccolo centro.
La scelta del ponte come punto di ripresa è risultata vincente e osservando la foto le ringhiere dello stesso sembrano un cancello aperto sul magnifico spettacolo.
Luce incredibilmente forte e netta e un cielo che migliore non poteva essere.
Bravissimo.

Yet another (unknown to me) small rural town in France, Stephen - your specialty documented collection.
Beautiful view of the old houses and church from across the bridge.
Flowers adorned in red and purple, and daylight was very favorable.

The bridge across the river and the dark railings either side provide good lead in lines and add diminishing linear perspective. Excellent sharpness and good saturation. The visual journey from the fg is not disappointing as we are rewarded with not one, but 2 castle towers either side. Good sharpness and saturation also. Tfs!

Hi Stephen,
I know this will sound odd, but my first thought when I seen this was of the famous Disney castle! I think it’s the perspective you chose which fills this shot with depth and layers, and that looks brilliant, almost as if the buildings are stacked on top of each other. The bridge leads perfectly into the scene, and the flowers on each side are a perfect framing tool bring life and color. I don’t know how you managed to capture a scene so expansive with no people, it allows a superb result.

Hello Stephen - The bridge makes a perfect lead in line to this shot and lines by the flower baskets makes an attractive colourful addition to the more natural tones of the buildings. This looks like another beautiful little town and one that has plenty of charms to explore. The more I see your posts, the more I get the impression that you like to tour when you are on vacation and discover new places to investigate and enjoy.
