Photographer's Note

Red Deer is Alberta's third largest city with a population approaching 100000. It is located in the central portion of the province, halfway between Calgary and Edmonton on the busy Queen Elizabeth II Highway. Oil and agriculture account for the main industries, with the former accounting for rapid growth in the region and province more generally.

The photo is taken downtown in front of City Hall (not seen). Executive Place, the building on the left, opened in 2010. The other main building houses offices for TELUS, one of Canada's major telecommunication companies. Also of interest is the Old Court House, built during the 1930s.
