Photographer's Note

One more modern Roman Catholic church in the 11th district, I posted pictures of two others recently. This one is in the campus of the Technical University (BME), built in 1995-1996, designed by Ferenc Török and Mihály Balázs. The plan was to use it as a pavilion in Expo96, and after the expo turn it into a church. There was no Expo, so it become immediately a church for the University, and later also a parish church of the neighborhood. It is dedicated to the many Hungarian saints, starting with St. Stephen, the first king of Hungary, who was canonized in 1083. Its interesting, unconventional design combines modern and classical elements, the many windows on the dome provides ample natural light inside. The church is open all day, so students can go in any time to ask for some divine help for their tests and exams. There is an alternate view in the Workshop.
