My bike trip to this white village (Total 40 km)
Oostkerke a village on 5 KM of the Belgian coasts (The North Sea)
Napoleon channel
The momentum is known today because of its bike-friendly character in the beautiful surroundings that are the green polders and the twisted Marilandica poplars. Many fishermen have already eagerly watched his / her fishing rod here and during the most severe winters the sports enthusiasts can get their skates on for the Zwinstedentocht or Brugge-Sluis-Brugge.
History
The Damse Vaart was dug by order of Napoleon (from 1810), hence the alternative name "Napoleon Canal". These excavations were carried out by Spanish prisoners of war, "descendants" of the lords who did not hold the scepter in the Netherlands until recently. The canal was to be part of a network of canals along the coast that would allow a quick supply of the French soldiers and at the same time Napoleon avoided the confrontation with the powerful English navy.
I hope that you enjoy it

Hi John,
The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The length of the canal is giving depth and perspective to the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the trees. Have a nice day.

Bonjour John,

Hello John,
This is unmistakably one of your photos. Trees perfectly reflected in a remarkably calm canal seen on a diagonal. Anyone could take such a photo, but very few will manage such perfect technical and artistic quality. I can see every twig in the trees and any soft nuance of the clouds. And to my pleasure I also discovered a man who was probably hoping to catch some fish. Very well done.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello John,
A wonderful long perspective along the canal that runs dead straight as far as the eyes can see. Agreeable soft lights and natural colours and these delightful repeating reflections. The solitary angler makes a good anchor point.

Hello John,
What a beautiful autumn scene of trees and canal!
The depth created by the perspective is superb!
It is almost like seeing the whole scene twice with these perfect, mirror-like reflections.
I'm so glad that you mentioned the fisherman because I am not sure that I would have noticed him! Having seen him, I cannot miss him now. I wonder what it was like for him, being able to see himself so clearly in the water
I think you would have come in closer had he pulled a fish out, otherwise, this is perfect for just the fisherman!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi John,
The lone fisherman at left animates the scene. Good sharpness and wonderful symmetrical reflections. I like the repetition of the evenly spaced leafless trees. Tfs!

Dag John

Hello John,
That was quite a long bike ride you had eight days ago but it was well worth all your efforts to be able to see and photograph such a beautiful scene as this!
The light here is stunning and you have made the very most of it in this fine composition in which the canal and its flanking trees guide the eye along a strong diagonal on which the lone fisherman is perfectly placed. The reflections of the trees on the calm water are sublime, the colours true and the details and sharpness are exquisite.
Thank you for this one, John.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hallo John,

Hello John, as Gert has already commented, this is unmistakably one of your distinctive shots showing us a beautiful canal.
Perfect reflections right to the vanishing point, and the man fishing gives an alternative focal point.
Excellent shot.
Good informative note too.

Hi John
these are your best photos :)

we can see the fisherman on the left, but the key area has to be that long tunnel effect on the far right - and the reflections too. what a great scene. your shot is A+ my friend, so clear and sharp too. cheers

Dag John,
Groet Rob

Hi John,
One never tires of your signature canal landscapes in diagonal ! There is a similarity about them all, but each one has its own marvel too ! Here I love the reflexion of the 2 rows of trees, the golden colour of the banks and that lone fisherman who gives life to the whole picture.
Thanks for all thees beaurtiful canal pictures.

Hallo John, wonderful countryside photo. The line of trees is reflected almost symmetrically on the canal water. The pov creates an excellent depth. A lonely angler was trying his luck that day. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.
