Photographer's Note

Yesterday I went with my friends to see the movie Favorite. Set in early 18th-century England, the story examines the relationship between two cousins vying to be court favourites of Queen Anne. The protagonists are Queen Anne (Olivia Colman), Sarah Churchill, the Duchess of Marlborough (Rachel Weisz) and Abigail Hill, Sarah's impoverished younger cousin (Emma Stone).
At home, I made some research. we hear that Sarah and her husband, Duke of Marlborough, were given a big palace. It was Blenheim. Sir Winston Churchill, who was descendant of Sarah, was born there. Sarah was one of the most influential women of her time. She was born in St. Albans. She gave Abigail employment within her own household at St Alban's.
The movie had 10 nominations but got only one Oscar for Olivia Colman.

A majority of the film's principal photography took place at Hatfield House, Hertfordshire.

Strange but I visited Hatfield House, St. Albans and Blenheim.
Even more strange that these places are unknown for the Trekkers living in UK. So I think it is a good reason to make a short break from my wintery series from Iceland and to look at my archive.
Here the general view of Hatfield House. It is a magnificent residence of great historic importance, with fantastic gardens. I recommend visiting in May when the gardens are full of flowers.
