I took this picture (18.01.2021) this morning, +5°Celsius, a trip of 38 km.
Dampoort Bruges
CRANE on the edge of the water a *REPLICA*.
I received this text from a friendly couple Firmin and Hilda from Bruges. Firmin was a guide in Bruges at the time.
Here in short, the requested explanation about the crane.
Only in the 14th century did seagoing vessels reach Bruges, the first port was Annuntiatenstreet, then the crane came, first the crane was at the crane square. After that, a solid crane was built at the Poortershof for weighing the goods and paying the taxes, due to the disappearance of shipping to Bruges via Sluis and St Anna Ter Muiden and the Wars of Religion there was no more overseas trade in Bruges and is the tap completely out of date.
During the renovation of the lock complex on the Dampoort, shipping was again possible between the sea and Bruges. The building renovation department decided to design a new crane by the VTI Bruges (Technical school in Bruges) as a reminder of the historical past of Bruges according to old plans. from
Aesthetic Discussis to the yeast factory, where it still stands at Sasplein.
I hope you like it

Hallo John,
Het kalme water zorgde ervoor dat de oever heel mooi weerspiegeld werd. Het zachte licht is aangenaam. Die oude houten havenkraan is heel mooi en goed te zien net links van het midden.

Hello John,
The replica of the old wooden crane is like a work of art and a fine monument to the technology of older days. It looks especially good when the weather conditions create such fine reflections. It's a generally pleasant view with nice light and colours, but I have a feeling the photo is not quite as sharp as most others.
Best regards,
Gert

Hallo John,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hallo John,
Fantastic reflections with the wheeled wooden crane on the opposite shore line providing a strong focal point. Good sharpness and diffused lighting too. Tfs!

Hi John
Beautiful angle of view, lovely the way the natural trees frames the view and it does indeed capture the feeling of tranquility of the scene. A place with history and the structure lends all the ye olde charm, easy on the eye and meaningful. Well done

Hello John,
Thank you for the interesting notes about the history of the port and the crane.
From this viewpoint, we get not only an excellent view of the crane but of the surrounding features and the excellent reflections in the water.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello John,
I don't know what it is, I find the reflection of the sky in the water , nicer than the real sky. But it's still a lovely photo to admire.
It's a very informative note about the crane.
The built of this crane is like the roof of Toraja village in Sulawesi.
All in all, a fine captured shot with the tranquil surroundings.
Thanks for sharing this 'Replica'.

Hi John,
I have recently presented a photo of an old wooded crane but I see your construction of the crane may be even older.
Nice structure and well captured in a beautiful setting.
Challenging weather conditions but a great colorful outcome.
Very well done,

Hello John,
Wonderful mirror reflection of the green trees and an interesting wooden water-wheel on the bank.
Superbly allocated the picture space from water to sky, even grey as it was.
Good afternoon,

Hi John.
A beautiful composition with this variety of large trees and a house between them, the reflections in the canal ideal, very curious that artifact next to the shore that seems to be an old crane.
Very good color that increases the attractiveness of the image.
Superb brightness and sharpness management to enjoy the details.
Well seen and done. I like it.
Have a nice day.
Very best regards.
Luis.
