Photographer's Note

Zion National Park, located in Southern Utah in the high plateau country is of an immense scale. The sheer cliffs dropping 3000ft, massive buttresses and deep alcoves; 19th cent. Mormon pioneers called the canyon 'Little Zion' after the celestial city.
Unlike the Grand canyon where you stand on the rim and look out, Zion canyon is usually viewed from the bottom looking up.
The park is open all year round but is not often visited in winter. We happened to travel through during a winterstorm and most of the views were hidden by a curtain of snowflakes.
The shot was taken with an Espio 200 and scanned. The pic looks equally nice in B&W.
