Photographer's Note

I spent some time at a friend's farm in the small township of Puhoi. Puhoi's founders were Bohemians who built a strong community from its inception in 1863. Today the community is small, the young seeking fortune elsewhere. Some old timers still speak their dialect and try to preserve their traditions. The town hall has traditional music and dance on special religious and commemorative days and the hall is once again filled with laughter. That is when many find their way back to Puhoi to pay homage to their forefathers. Still, many farma are suffering from neglect as the old are getting older. This is a scanned photo that needed some highlighting and contrast. I hope that I have preserved some of the atmosphere where the thick morning fog was being dispersed by the sun that slowly rose above the high hills that surrounded the farm.
