Photographer's Note

Adelaide has jetties (piers). Quite a few jetties. This is feasible because our beaches are protected from the deep ocean swells by Kangaroo Island and our coast is shallow. Jetties provide a focus of activity for their respective communities. You can take strolls along them, fish from them, jump from them, or shelter from the hot summer sun, under them. Many like this one at Glenelg used to (some still do) have a canopy near the end to provide shelter for those on the jetties, but storms have taken their toll and funds are needed for repairs. Without our jetties, there would just be a featureless horizon... Support your local jetty! It is special.
