Photographer's Note

Hi TE friends, this is a simple photo of the parliament house in Bucharest
- the other photo had to be removed for not complying with TE requirements - I hope this one is ok :)

If this was a piece of cake then this is what it would take to prepare it…
Plan: pan surface 64 800 square meters – perimeter 1 km (2x270m + 2x240m)
Height 84 m – 12 levels
Depth 92 m
Ingredients: 1 billion square meters of marble, 900.000 square meters of wood
280 crystal chandeliers…
Cooking Time: 5 years (1984-1989)
Oh but thank goodness this was not a piece of cake – however all numbers above are real!

The Parliament Building (People’s House) with a surface of 64 800 square meters is the second largest office building in the world, after the Pentagon of USA.
The building measures 84 meters above ground and 92 meters under ground. Volume-wise (2.55 billion cubic meters) is the third largest in the world after Cape Canaveral in USA (3.67 billion cubic meters) and Quetzalcoatl pyramid in Mexico (3.3 billion cubic meters). The building has 440 offices and dozens of conference and meeting halls, the largest being Union Hall and Alexandru Iona Cuza (approximating over 2 000 square meters each, 16m high, 1200 / 850 seats). The largest carpet in the building is 1500 square meters; the largest chandelier weights 3 tons (3000 KG) and has 7000 light bulbs. During the summer in high season this building has over 300 visitors, daily.
