Photographer's Note

Ostrów Wielkopolski is a town in central Poland with 73,100 inhabitants (2005), situated in the Greater Poland Voivodeship.

On photo: Market Square. The present town hall was built in 1828 and was designed by J.H.Haeberlin - an associate of famous Prussian architect K.Schinkel. It is situated in the middle of the main square, which is built-up with tenements from the 19-th century. At the beginning it was a brick, two-storeyed building with a loft and an open courtyard. This structure was converted in 1862 and 1948, since then it hasn't changed a lot.
