Photographer's Note

This photo shows a small part of the expressway that weaves its way down from the Mid-Levels of Hong Kong Island all the way to the motorway along the water front.

It does this through a very densely populated area called Kennedy Town - on the western side of the island - and when you are actually driving on this expressway you can find yourself looking into a person's living room, even on the 8th floor of a residential block!!

Nothing seems to get in the way of Hong Kong's urban planners.

Of course being Hong Kong, the irony doesn't stop there. There is a actually a very small park immediately on the right of this photo, with benches and a childrens' area, and a sign that says to 'keep quiet in the park'. Obviously they don't want you to disturb the people driving the cars, lorries and buses above your head!!

I have tried to photo this expressway several times but the lighting is always very difficult. Half the photo is in darkness and the rest is usually overexposed, as you are aiming the camera virtually at the sky.

Tech: Cropped to remove overexposed sky. Resized and sharpened. Brightness +6. Contrast +16. Added noise 10% uniformly.
