Photographer's Note

White Squall (1996), based on a true story, is a movie by Ridley Scott, starring Jeff Bridges and some young actors of the time…

Christopher “Skipper” Sheldon is the captain of “Albatross”, a school sailing ship, living there with his wife Dr. Alice Sheldon and the crew.

In 1960 he sets out to sea with eight teenage boys from around the country. Being a very tough man, he uses tools of sailing for teaching boys discipline, respect, camaraderie… Skipper isn’t really loved by the boys, but deep inside boys start to discover and understand him…

The voyage is a true adventure and big experience for all of them until Albatross is caught by a big storm in the middle of ocean. Some of the boys, members of crew and Skipper’s beloved wife Dr. Alice Sheldon die in the storm.

Skipper was accused of taking boys to a voyage that they weren’t capable of. In the court, as everyone was blaming him; parents, school managers, advocates, surprisingly boys, rescued from the storm, defend him…

Christopher Sheldon’s licence was taken by the authorities and he never sailed again…

Fantastic blue tones and nice silver reflections .These sunrays look great TOO and I like the composition with these boats.

vaaay, nefis olmuş bu burgucan... kanat taktın yükseldin galibaunun için... mavi dünya ilahi ışıkla aydınlanmış, ne de güzel olmuş... ben de de bna benzer kahverengi bişey var, denizde kutucuklar var diye yüklememiştim... baktım seninkinde de var ve sorun değil gibi duruyor... ben de yükliim bi ara bari...

maybe this is how legends are born. maybe it all begins with ligth like this. under rays like these.
can you blame little mortals beings calling this the "divine light"? can you blame me? ;o)
or maybe it is just "a kind of magic"? ... still i believe it is the dreamy fabric legends are made of.
and that light. so beautiful and humanly untouchable.

Son günlerde gözlerimdeki sorun nedeni ile bilgisayara daha az giriyorum (göz doktorum fazla ekrana bakmaktan diyor) , dolayısı ile kareleri günü gününe takip edemiyorum, manzara kareleri görmeye alışkın değilim senden ama bu konuda çok başarılı olduğunu da ispat etmişsin bu kare ile, ışın hüzmleleri , parçalı parlaklık tabakaları, enfes bir manzara, tebrikler

Very poetic shot. Before reading your note, I thought that it was an ideal one to start a movie.
The rays offer a superb sweet constrast against the darkness of the whole composition.
The sea is transfomred into a silver sea... superb!

Koca koca gemiler Çanakkale Boğazı'nın heybeti karşısında küçücükler. Hem denizdeki yakamozları hem de gökyüzünden süzülen ışıkları çok güzel görüntülemişsin. Mavi rengin tonunu çok beğendim bir de.

Bu tür isiklara "holly light/kutsal isik" da deniyor...
Ben de baska bir filmden yola cikarak tarif yapayim: "Blues Brothers" filmindeki bir sahnede -bizdeki adiyla- cazci kadeslerin tepesinde birden bir "holly light/kutsal isik" yanar... Artik ermislerdir, ve hic bir guc onlarin amaçlarina ulasmalarina engel olamaz...

Uzun sözuk kisasi; çok güzel bir fotograf olmus...
Kendim oradaymiscasine keyif/haz aldim!.

Muhtesem bir film karesi olmus bu. Gonderme yaptigin White Squall'in sonunu bir TV kanalinda izleyebildim...

Bu saheser fotografa hayran oldum. Yillarca evvel Suadiye'de buna benzer bir slide çekmistim, ve geçenlerde ariyordum, scan edip TE'ye yollamak için. Iste burada daha güzelini gördükten sonra, lüzum kalmadi. Notunuzda güzel, Ingilizceniz harukulâde (benim Türkçem'den daha iyi.

you are making giant steps.
This is simply so beautiful, so balanced and harmonious a landscape. Not simply so, but with very fine-tuned thought behind it. The way you caught the scenery under that wondrous light, the dominant tonality, the reflections. The presence of the boats and thus human life. Lots of mood and sensitivity. I feel emotion there too. Magical.
