I've been interested in photgraphy for a long time, but has not been really serious about it until I got my hands on the first good digital cameras. I find that the digital medium really encourages creative photography, with its instant feedback and unlimited pictures for the same cost. It also encourages you to take more pictures more often and of things that you wouldn't have with a "regular" camera.

But in addition, I find that making photography an everyday hobby also changes the way you perceive the world. All of a sudden you see pictures in all things and everywhere. Anything can become a nice picture, given the right circumstances. Or, as the Danish photographer Kirsten Klein puts it, "A photo is a picture of reality, seen through one persons experience of said reality."

Update October 26: Just discovered that my tip of TrekEarth to the BBC show Click Online was covered in the program receiving a favourable review. And happily it looks like it has brought a lot of new members to the site.

I'm also a registred member of TrekLens.
